Stoddard County Pit Bulls

Have you wondered if all the stories are true about the Vick dogs?  Can ex-fighting pit bulls really be adopted to loving homes?  The answer is YES.

Mutts has proudly worked with the Humane Society of Missouri with the dogs that came from the Stoddard County dog fighting bust.

We are proud to say we have been able with careful screening processes to home several of the dogs. The people who have adopted the charming pitties have been touched by the fact these dogs are sensitive, loving, intelligent, and really have no desire fight.  It makes you sad to think these poor dogs were forced to fight for human greed.

Here is a funny story about WillieJake still waiting for his forever home.  WillieJake was out walking with his foster mom when this large imposing dog charged them.  WillieJake the ex-figher started to whimper, let out a scream and jumped into his foster parents arms.  Kelly was so stunned by WillieJake's reaction to the incident, but now has a mixture of sadness that WillieJake thought he was going to be hurt and laughter that Mr. Macho exfighter jumped into the arms of his foster mom.  WillieJake now walks around with his foster  mom's pink sleeper in his mouth as his comfort.

So can ex-fighter be rehomed?  Yes.  But the sad truth is, there are too many pits that need homes without a dark past.  Over 200 are euthanized in St. Louis metro area a WEEK.  Only one out of 600 make it out of shelter alive...so then where does rescue put their very limited resources?  As a group, we chose to assist with the dogs from Stoddard County to prove a point...it is the owner not the dog that is the problem in today's society.

Signing off
